# How to check your YubiKey firmware version

**How to Find Your Firmware Version for Your YubiKey**

Knowing the firmware version of your YubiKey is essential before adding your YubiKey as a vault key with Casa app. The minimum supported firmware for Vaults is F/W: 5.5 You can find the firmware version of your YubiKey using either the YubiKey Manager or the Yubico Authenticator.

**Method 1: Using YubiKey Manager**

1. **Download and Install YubiKey Manager**:
   - Visit the [YubiKey Manager download page](https://www.yubico.com/support/download/yubikey-manager/).
   - Select the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux).
   - Download and install the application.

2. **Open YubiKey Manager**:
   - Launch the YubiKey Manager application on your computer.

3. **Insert Your YubiKey**:
   - Plug your YubiKey into a USB port on your computer.

4. **Identify Your YubiKey**:
   - Once inserted, the YubiKey Manager will automatically detect your YubiKey.
   - The main screen will display key information about your YubiKey, including the model, firmware version, and serial number.

5. **Locate the Firmware Version**:
   - Look for the section labeled "Firmware Version" on the main screen. This will display the firmware version of your YubiKey.
   - Using YubiKey as a Casa hardware device requires a firmware version of 5.5 or above.

**Method 2: Using Yubico Authenticator**

1. **Download and Install Yubico Authenticator**:
   - Visit the [Yubico Authenticator download page](https://www.yubico.com/products/yubico-authenticator/).
   - Select the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS).
   - Download and install the application.
